akihiko izukura & on aura tout vu made from silk and dreams
Akihiko izukura, born in 1942, come to a long line of masters weavers of silk, who, centuries, created kimonos and obis for the imperial family of japan.
Graduate of university doshisha, akihiko works internationally since 1970, and founds in 1994, senshoku-do: a ceremony of traditional weaving and dyeing, similar to the tea ceremony, a new way of being closer to the nature.
the kyoto designer works mainly silk and uses natural techniques: the thread is hand painted from plants and insects before being woven or tied.
for him, ethics should not be exception but the basis of all creations.
Izukura kyoto wants himself to be the bearer of an ethical and enduring fashion which respects environment and human value…
after work with young artists as gustavo lins or sakina m’sa, izukura participed in the execution of the new collection spring/summer 2010 of on aura tout vu. thanks to their collaboration, on aura tout vu presented, notably, a silk coat handed woven, or a silk pants, a fabulous skirt handed woven of kyoto decorated with lace, and, the inside of the hybrid dress.
