The exhibition Word Press Photo 2010, On aura tout vu’s favorite.
On aura tout vu went to see the exhibition of the month, which is undoubtedly the one taking place for a few days at the gallery Azzedine Alaia, 18 rue Verrerie in Paris.
We can’t wait to share with you our favorite.
Collector and passionate of art, the designer Azzedine Alaia, already at the root of many cultural projects, has chosen to host the winners of the great Word Press Photo 2009 contest in his gallery.
This competition is annually organized by the independent Foundation WordPress, created in 1955 and based in Amsterdam. This foundation’s aim is to promote the work of professional photojournalists, who are numerous to participate.
So at this occasion, the gallery walls are covered by press photos all stronger one than another.
Here is the sélection of Livia and Yassen.
Among them, very graphic images like Malick Sidibé’s one (Mali), published in The New York Times Magazine, which won Arts and Entertainment first prize, or the poignant photo of french Pierre-Olivier Deschamps about people living in the streets of Paris.
But the big winner of this contest is the Italian Pietro Masturzo with his photo entitled “From the rooftops of tehran”, where we can see a woman crying out his disappointment on the rooftop of a building in Tehran, a few days after the disputed re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
On aura tout vu stay shaken by this passionated exhibition.
Not to miss !!!

Discarded to Design
The history of “Discarded to Design“
One day, in front of a pile of clothes worn, torn, stained that he had given, Sally Rosen a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society thought to recycle all this and imagined the transformation of these clothes thrown into something new useful.
This idea of transforming “things” was already familiar to her because the St Vincent de Paul Society works for thousands of poor men and women who have too often been treated as clothing worn, discarded and regarded as useless.
The St Vincent de Paul Society treats them with respect and dignity, in each case, explaining that they have value. The goal is to be with them while they gradually transform their lives, no matter how difficult it is.
Therefore, if care and attention can change the lives of these people, it may be the same with these clothes, to restore their value.
So Sally invited designers and artists to take those clothes and to create with, clothing artworks, achievements haute couture, decorations with unique design, and then offer them for auctions whose earnings would be donated to a fund devoted to poor and homeless.
This generous event was called “Discarded to Design”.
Since its creation, Discarded to Design has rebuilt many lives and educate the public about the difficulties facing those people whose St Vincent Paul Society cares.
With the help of designers and volunteers, Discarded to design has become more than a fundraiser, now is a motion including charity and commitment over the long term to help all these people in need to restore decent lives.
This year, this event provides support for people suffering domestic violence, thousands of women, children, … are victims of violence more often than daily.
The St Vincent Paul Society is already engaged in this fight with the greatest center for those victims to these domestic violence in San Francisco.
